mima's Conservation department is primarily responsible for the conservation and long-term preservation of mima's collections.

The department specialises in the conservation of paper based material but is also responsible for organising and managing the conservation for all other areas of the collection. The core of the conservator's work is the care and understanding of mima's collections which is achieved through surveys, assessments, appropriate storage and practical treatment which ensures the collection is accessible, and can be exhibited and studied.

Our conservator is also involved with environmental monitoring and control in all display and storage areas, supervises the installation and monitoring of exhibitions and provides advice across the gallery.
