Ultra-red pursue a fragile but dynamic exchange between art, sound and political organising. Founded in 1994 by two AIDS activists, over the years they have expanded to include artists, researchers and organisers from different social movements.

The work in the sound space is derived from a series of performances, or ‘Listening Sessions’ in which Ultra-red members share recordings from their investigations within the struggles surrounding migration, anti-racism, fair housing, youth and HIV/AIDS.
The Middlesbrough Session will take place during June, after which visitors will see the results in project space 1.
