Paid parking is available at the back of mima with additional parking on Wilson Street. The entrance to the car park from Melrose Street/Grange Road is via Borough Road. mima short stay car park fees: £2.10 for 2 hours and £2.10 per hour thereafter. 8.00am – 6.00pm Mon- Sat (including bank holidays). Toilets and changing facilities are available on the ground and second floors, and toddler toilets/sinks are available on the second floor. Guide and hearing dogs are welcome.
Café Prego is a great place to meet for lunch or drinks, or to stop and have a rest while you are visiting the galleries. Serving hot and cold food,
sandwiches and light meals, cakes and pastries and a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including Illy coffee. Café Prego welcomes families, and offers a wide range of food suitable for children, high chairs and bottle warming facilities. Enjoy Café Prego’s special children’s meal deals before or after a family activity. Dutch designer Gijs Bakker has designed the interior and furnishings
Lockers are available on the ground floor beside Café Prego, if you wish to leave your coat or bag during your visit. They take one £1 coin, which is refundable. The shop or café will be able to help with change.
There are lots of different ways to look at modern and contemporary art with children. Our exhibitions can include paintings, drawings, prints, jewellery, ceramics or sculptures. See our ‘current exhibitions’ pages to find out what’s on before you visit. Our exhibitions change four times a year so there may be something completely different each time. Admission is free so you can visit as often as you like. Pick up a FREE Activity Guide during your visit, with fun activities to do with our current shows. You can also have a go on our spirograph play tables, opposite reception. Pens and paper are provided free. There are also lots of free events and activities for all ages to get involved in. There are regular opportunities to enjoy using mima’s art trolley, weekly activities for under 4’s and regular family hour sessions. Visit the events section of our website to find out more. Pushchairs are permitted at all times but please be mindful of exhibits when in the galleries.
